Some of the measures to ensure safety of health workers are given below:
- Provision of Protective gear like gloves, masks, gowns, caps, personal protective equipment, lead aprons, dosimeters, etc., and their use by Health Care workers as per standard protocols should be in place.
- Promotion of Hand Hygiene and practice of standard precautions by Health care workers should be a standard practice.
- Display standard operating procedures at strategic locations in the hospital.
- Regular Training of health care workers in standard precautions, patient safety, infection control and Bio-medical waste management should be part of their training requirements.
- Immunization of Health care workers against Tetanus and Hepatitis B or any such emerging infections for which vaccines are available.
